In 2019 the first Miniature World show took place in Leisureland in Galway. It was intended to become an annual event, but then came Covid and changed, not only the event organiser’s plans, but those of everyone in the world.
But now the Irish Vintage Scene is delighted to report Miniature World is back, and will take place on Sunday March 5, 2023, once again in the Leisureland complex in Salthill, Galway.
Since announcing the event in January 2023, the organisers have been inundated with requests for space to display and trade at the show, ensuring many new displays, dioramas and collections have been completed, many indeed during lockdowns.
The show will boast exhibitors as young as 12-years-old taking, although organiser do not beleive anyone will own up to being the oldest.
Once again the event will be supported by Galway Model Club, based in the Men’s Shed in Shantalla, and its club members have been especially busy putting the final touches to their largest display yet.
Visitors to Miniature World are in for a treat, with some of Ireland’s top modellers and collectors displaying everything from farm, truck and motorsport models to diecast cars, specialty displays, Lego trains, Lego Technics, Lego miniatures, timber models and doll’s houses. The event offers hours of entertainment for anyone with an interest in models and dioramas, both young and old.
Organiser of the show, Thomas Heavey from Oranmore, says pre-Covid there were many model and diecast shows taking place in Ireland, but so far in post-Covid there are not as many. With Miniature World being the first of 2023, there is a huge interest in displaying at it, as many exhibitors have not have attended such an event for a few years. All now have new displays and collections they want to show off. There is more than 700 square metres of space available, and this was almost filled in the first week.
The event is open to the public from 10am to 5pm on Sunday March 5, and tickets can be purchaed online now with a saving of up to 20 per cent on the price.
