Stewart Construction to build Integer’s new innovation and manufacturing facility

Headquartered in Galway, with projects ongoing across Ireland, Stewart Construction has won the contract for the build and fit-out of a new two-storey facility for Integer, a leading medical device outsource (MDO ) manufacturer, which will be developed on a greenfield site at IDA Business and Technology Park, Parkmore East, Galway.

The team at Stewart Construction has been instrumental in the development of the Business and Technology Park over the past 25 years and has delivered five blocks, with a total area of 15721 sqm, since 2006.

The company has a track record of delivering public buildings and commercial blocks., with particular expertise in the delivery of cutting-edge pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing facilities. Galway is recognised internationally as a critical MedTech cluster, with 10 out of 11 global MedTech companies having a base in the region, and Stewart Construction is proud to be the contractor of choice for this sector.

Integer’s presence in Ireland spans more than 25 years. Throughout that period, Integer has consistently invested in its infrastructure, technology and associates. The new facility is required to meet increased demand for regional research, development and manufacturing capabilities as well as capacity for catheters and delivery systems, and will significantly Increase Integer’s presence and capabilities in Galway. This facility adds to Integer’s 17 global manufacturing sites and current presence across Ireland.

The initial phase of the project will include construction of a 67,000 square foot facility on land purchased from IDA Ireland and involves an investment of over €30M for phase one of the company’s Parkmore East expansion plan. Construction commenced this month with Phase 1 completion in 2024.

Founded in 1902 by James Stewart at Lower Salthill, Galway, the company remains in the ownership of the Stewart family, with a nationwide construction pipeline of €90m to the end of 2023.
