Beach Court home attracts twenty bids at O’Donnellan & Joyce auction

O’Donnellan & Joyce continue the success of selling properties by auction in Galway city when more than 20 bids were recorded on the sale of a house at 41 Beach Court, Salthill, Galway.

The property was placed up for sale by public auction in the auction room of O’Donnellan & Joyce in Mary Street, which has been described by many as the heart of selling homes in Galway city. The auction attracted a tremendous crowd and bidding for the sale of the property at No 41 Beach Court. The house, which was in need of modernisation, comprised a lounge/dining room, kitchen, four bedrooms, bathroom, and garage. The property was constructed by O’Malley Construction in the early 1980s.

Auctioneer Colm O’Donnellan of O’Donnellan & Joyce said that it was the location that attracted the interest as it is situated on the edge of Salthill Promenade and within a five minute walk of the city centre and Salthill. It is the ultimate location where you can leave the car at home and walk everywhere.

Bidding started at €330,000 and within a frenzied 10 minutes bidding was at €400,000, which was still below the AMV. At this point Colm O’Donnellan consulted with his client and it was then placed on the market for sale. The gavel was just about the fall on the third and final call and it seemed the auction was over when a fresh bidder entered with a further bid of €405,000. Two interested parties exchanged bids in a heated auction room until eventually a final bid of €460,000 was reached.

Colm O’Donnellan said he was delighted for the young couple who purchased the property as a family home. The solicitors for the sellers was Susan Egan of Emerson & Conway, St Francis Street, Galway. The auctioneer said they were delighted for their clients who obtained €30,000 more than the advised minimum value and achieved an extremely satisfactory sale, and also for the couple who obtained the property in what is perceived to be excellent value for a house in such a central location.

O’Donnellan & Joyce’s next auction is on June 12 where the company will auction three properties at the Claddagh including No 13 Beattystown, a magnificent three bedroom semidetached house which has been totally refurbished and modernised. No 13 offers magnificent views of Galway Bay and the Clare hills. The other properties are a site at Beattystown and No 13 Frenchville, a magnificent townhouse with unobstructed views overlooking South Park, Galway Bay, and the surrounding coastline.
