Alan Murphy's rapidly improving Galway WFC travel to Tolka Park for a demanding WNL encounter against standard bearers Shelbourne on Saturday (5pm ).

Chloe Singleton's late goal ensured Galway WFC enjoyed an impressive victory over DLR Waves at the UCD Bowl.

"It was really encouraging, it was a really hard fought win," Murphy says. "There was not a lot between the teams, they possibly shaded it in the first half, and in the second half, to be honest, I thought we were the better team.

"We had a few opportunities before we scored, but it was a really good performance.

"It was a little bit of a different performance - there was a lot more steel and a lot more non technical aspects that I was happy with."

A six match unbeaten run - including the triumph over Graham Kelly's DLR - illustrates Galway WFC's development since losing to Shelbourne on April 16.

"DLR have had a decent season, they have had some very good results," Murphy adds. "Again I know Graham very well, I was on the Pro Licence with him, he had a good set up against us. He had done his homework well and he will continue to do that, he is very good at analysis. So it was always going to be a tough game.

"We were up for this one, it was going to put us ahead of them in the table and give us a bit of breathing space."

From 12 matches so far in the campaign Shels have collected 33 points - losing only once.

"It will definitely be a tough one," Murphy acknowledges. "They have only conceded one goal this season, they are really experienced and they are a fine outfit.

"All we can do is look at ourselves to see what we can bring to the table, to see what performance level we can bring, to see how it matches up against Shels on the evening."
