Cregmore-Claregalway won the Connacht U18 Cup.

Benny Fahy's Cregmore-Claregalway defeated Maree-Oranmore in the Connacht U18 Cup final in Castlebar on Sunday afternoon.

Liam Murray and Conor Fahy scored for Cregmore-Claregalway either side of a Seamie Fallon equaliser for Maree-Oranmore.

"It has been a great journey," Fahy says. "I took over the lads at U16 with the help of a few fathers chipping in, keeping it going.

"We pulled from the U15 and U16 teams along the way, with Covid kicking in we didn't have a lot of football at U16.

"The following year at U17 we came close to winning the league - we were just pipped. This year we said we would make a go for something this year.

"We had the U17s and U18s training together, and we got the rub of the green along the way. We tried to play football too, by doing the right things on the pitch. It paid off on Sunday, we were really pleased with the performance."
