Murtagh in the medals again

Galway's Fiona Murtagh was back on the water this week competing in the the memorial Paolo d’Aloja international regatta in Italy.

In Rowing Ireland's first outing since the Olympic Games and World Championships, Galway's Olympic bronze medalist was paired with Tokyo experienced reserve Tara Hanlon. The two took a silver medal in the women’s pair in the first of their events at the three-day meet and followed up with a gold on Sunday.

They were competing against entries from Italy, Greece, South Africa, Serbia and Romania.

The team consisted of the following crews: Open weight women's team Tara Hanlon (UCC ) and Fiona Murtagh (NUIG ); Natalie Long (Killorglin RC ) and Zoe Hyde (Killorglin RC ) in the women’s pair; Alison Bergin (Fermoy RC ); U19 Holly Davis (LVRC ).The lightweight group Margaret Cremen (UCCRC ), Lydia Heaphy (Skibbereen RC ), Aoife Casey (Skibbereen RC ), Gary O’Donovan (Skibbereen RC ), Fintan McCarthy (Skibbereen RC ), Jake McCarthy (Skibbereen RC )
