Jordanna Cassidy has lost an amazing two stone in sixteen weeks with Slimming World

Jordanna Cassidy, a young mother of two children under two, has transformed both inside and out by becoming healthier and happier, slimmer and more confident, and she is looking forward to being bridesmaid and maid of honour later this year.

Committing to losing weight can often feel daunting when we start to think about changes to the way we eat, drink, and exercise – but it doesn’t need to be.

Being on the same journey with others can be incredibly uplifting and encouraging and, as we know now more than ever, being together, in person, can be joyous.

“Doing something regularly is key to helping new habits stick,” Jordanna said. “Fitting something into your routine and doing it frequently will make it feel natural going forward.

“The past two years had been so difficult and lonely for a mom. I decided to join my Slimming world group in Castlegar, Roscam, for the support, connection, and the inspiration. I never in a million years thought I would be the one inspiring members every week.

“Taking small steps and having something to aim for can bring you tangible results – and seeing those results makes sticking with it easier. Adding an extra portion of vegetables to your evening meals every day makes them healthier without too much fuss. I think almost everyone can manage that habit."

In all Slimming World groups members are encouraged to think about their week ahead, and the members help each other make plans.

“Forming habits which are meaningful and part of your daily life means you’re more likely to stick to it too, for example walking my double buggy was my lifeline during the pandemic but now walking daily is just part of my routine, coupled with food optimising means I’m staying at target with ease," she added.

Jordanna has dropped from a dress size 16-18 to a size 10-12. “I’ve been looking forward to summer this year knowing that I now have the confidence to wear outfits that I couldn’t or wouldn’t have last year," she said.

Jordanna has recently returned to work after her maternity leave needing a new, smaller, uniform and she has the rest of the staff, her family, and friends embracing the Slimming World way of life.

Claire Flaherty, who runs the Castlegar Slimming World group which Jordanna Cassidy attends, said she extremely proud of her. “Wedding season is a time of year for getting dressed up and having a good time," she added. "However, I know a lot of my members have told me they would often dread it because they felt uncomfortable and out of place at weddings and parties, which is just so sad. This year I know Jordanna will feel completely different.

"I hope she will be accepting every invitation she receives and showing off her fabulous new zest for life.

“Anyone who has been inspired by the Castlegar Slimming World member Jordanna Cassidy is welcome to join us at Castlegar GAA every Monday at 9am, 10am, 3.30pm, 5pm, and 6.30pm."
