On campus open day in Galway Community College of Further Education

Galway Community College of Further Education (GCC ) has announced that its further education open day will take place on campus, on Tuesday March 1 from 9am to 4pm. School leavers, mature students, adults considering returning to education, teachers, parents, and anyone wishing to attend is invited to the open day to explore the exciting and career-focused full-time courses commencing in September.

Centrally located at Moneenageisha Junction, GCC offers both Level 5 and 6 QQI further education courses in many vocational areas, business, secretarial, science and engineering, social care, horticulture, equine, sport, motor technology, music, theatre and film, design, and technology.

For September the college is offering 12 new courses in addition to the existing courses, meeting the demands of learners and the labour market, in areas of finance, healthcare, engineering, security, compliance, youth work, floristry, property management, quality management, and music at Level 6. These courses are designed to allow students to progress into employment, or to progress onto further studies, by studying a Level 6 course, or to convert their QQI results into CAO points (390 maximum ) for higher education courses in ITs and universities. Nationally ITs and universities allocate places specifically for students who have completed a further education course. Completing a course can also be used to investigate a study area before committing to a degree course in this area.

While studying in GCC, students are guaranteed expert tuition, modern facilities, career guidance, student café, free parking, and a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.

At the open day on Tuesday March 1, visitors will have an opportunity to talk to the teachers, to get career information, and help if required to apply for their preferred course. Some details will also be available on SUSI maintenance grants as well as social welfare information.

GCC is now accepting applications on all full-time day courses for the 2022/2023 academic year.
