The Eye Cinema in Wellpark is showing the highly-anticipated new drama ‘The Letters (15A ) by Irish director Robbie Walsh from tomorrow, Friday October 29.
Set against the backdrop of the Cervical Check scandal that rocked Ireland, ‘The Letters" tells the story of three women from different walks of life who have been given mere weeks to live due to the false results of their cervical cancer checks. Mary is a woman in her fifties who is the sole carer of her elderly mum with late-stage Alzheimer's, Sam is a single mother in debt and struggling to raise her four children and Cliona a single career-driven woman who rates low on the autism spectrum which results in anxiety and social awkwardness.
This stunning film draws inspiration from Goddard, Fellini, Scorsese, Loach, Meadows and Wheatley to name a few. Some of the more artistic shots within the film pay homage to Edgar Degas, Jacques-Louis David and Renoir, the subject matter is inspired by true events happening in Ireland due to the Cervical Check Cancer Scandal. Starring Mary Murray (‘Love/Hate’, ‘The Magdalene Sisters’ ), Kathleen Warner Yeates, Sarah Carroll (‘Love/Hate’, ‘The Limit of’ ).
Film Director Robbie Walsh will be at the Eye Cinema to attend a live question and answer session with the audience after the 7pm screening on Thursday November 4.
