New stopping nets for St Michael's GAA club grounds in Westside.

Cllr Eddie Hoare calls for lights for the running track at Westside

A ball stopping net on the training pitch and also the extension of the ball stopping net on the main pitch have been added to St Michael's GAA club grounds in Westside.

The works have been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway City Central councillor, Eddie Hoare. “These works have been planned for a long time and I’m delighted to see them completed last week," he said. "The new nets will greatly enhance the playing pitches and will also make the area much safer for users of the playground and other users of the park."

Cllr Hoare also expects to see lights erected on the running track at Westside and hopes to see works commenced shortly.

“Funds were allocated for this project in last year's budget and it is imperative that this project is progressed," he says. "Thousands of people use the track and I will continue to put pressure on the Galway City Council to progress this project."
