Oranmore Primary Care Centre to start construction before summer 2022

The timescale for construction is yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be between 18 to 20 months

Construction on the new Primary Care Centre for Oranmore will commence before next summer, this week’s meeting of the Regional Health Forum was told.

Cllr Liam Carroll asked the Forum for details of the timescale for the construction of the new Primary Health Care Centre in including the anticipated completion time for such construction.

In response, he was told by Joe Hoare, Assistant National Director, Capital & Estates, HSE that planning permission for a new primary care centre and associated works at Junction of Main Street and the N67, Oranmore was granted earlier this year following a decision in favour of same by An Bord Pleanala.

One-stop-shop for services

“The HSE’s Capital and Estates division are currently engaging with the developer with a view to finalising agreement for lease documents before the end of this year,” said Mr Hoare.

“Subject to successfully concluding legal agreements for accommodation for primary care services, it is anticipated that construction might have commenced on site by late Q1 / early Q2 next year. The timescale for construction is yet to be confirmed, but is likely to be between 18-20 months from date of commencement,” he concluded.

The new centre will be a one-stop-shop for services including public health, schools, and community nursing, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, x-ray services, counselling, and more. It will serve Oranmore, Maree, Craughwell, Clarinbridge and Ardrahan.
