Cut Renmore grass, says O’Flaherty

Renmore residents are complaining that the grass in their area is not being cut and that in some places it is more than two foot high and looks very unsightly.

This is the view of Independent councillor Terry O’Flaherty, who is calling on the Galway City Council to take immediate steps to cut the grass in the Renmore and other areas throughout the city.

“I am inundated with complaints from the residents in Renmore,” she said. “The grass cutting is being done on a very ad hoc basis with little or no effort being made to have these areas cleaned -up and tidied.”

Traditionally, the council employs extra staff for the summer season to carry out grass cutting.

“This year the extra staff are currently working to get the city ready for the Volvo Ocean Race which I fully agree with,” said Cllr O’Flaherty, “but not at the expense of the residents living in local areas.”
