Ryder Cup latest betting

The 43rd Ryder Cup takes place this weekend, Friday to Sunday (September 24-26 ) at Whistling Straits, Wisconsin, USA.

Team Europe is currently the Ryder Cup holder after its 17½ – 10½ point victory over Team USA in 2018 at Le Golf National, Paris.

Irish interest is as strong as ever with Padraig Harrington in the captain’s seat and Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry both set to play key roles in Europe’s bid to retain the cup.

The automatic qualifiers for Team Europe were Paul Casey, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Lee Westwood and Bernd Wiesberger, with Shane Lowry, Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter the wild cards to complete Europe’s 12 man team.

Team USA appears to be much stronger on paper, based on world rankings, and comprises Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Harris English, Daniel Berger and Scottie Scheffler.

Harrington says: “If a computer was deciding the result, the Americans would win. But it’s not a computer. There’s more to it than that.”

He believes “it’s a ball-striker’s golf course", and Europe has the right balance of players to cause an upset. The Americans might be longer, but the question is are they better from tee to green?

Harrington wants his players to have a great week and to enjoy it.

"Maybe I’m biased, but I played my best when I enjoyed it," he says.
