New public toilets for Salthill

Fine Gael Councillor Clodagh Higgins calls for permanent toilet facilities at Toft Park

New public toilets at Palmer’s Rock in Salthill, within the coming weeks, replacing the previous toilet facilities which had fallen into a poor condition.

The old public toilets have been removed and ground works are now complete for the installation of the new toilets. The new facility will contain two units, one of which will be accessible

The development has been welcomed by the Fine Gael Galway City West, Clodagh Higgins. “This is a much needed development as over the past eighteen months there has been huge pressure on public conveniences,” she said. “When you think of people who have conditions such as Crohn’s and Colitis, pregnant women and families with small children trying to use parks, playgrounds and so forth that don’t have access to toilets, this is not very fair.”

While she thanked the Galway City Council for working with her on this issue, she said other areas, such as the playground at Toft Park, also need permanent toilet facilities.
