Galway WFC defeated by Wexford Youths

Stephen Lally's team produced a gutsy performance

Despite producing a gritty display, Galway WFC still suffered a defeat against Wexford Youths in the WNL on Saturday at Eamonn Deacy Park.

Edel Kennedy's first half goal ensured Wexford maintained their title push by earning victory.

There was plenty to admire about the manner in which Stephen Lally's outfit battled throughout with Therese Kinnevey and Savannah McCarthy assured at the back.

Meabh De Burca's experience assisted teenagers Nicole McNamara and Aoibheann Costello, who both contributed solid displays for the home team.

Glimpses of Lynsey McKey's considerable skill were evident, while Julie Ann Russell demonstrated her ability in a wide right role. During the match six teenagers featured for Galway WFC which provides encouragement for the future.

Considering the excellent form of Galway WFC U17 and U19 teams in the underage national leagues there remains cause for optimism.

While Galway are not in action this weekend, Lally is eager to find a good blend for the remainder of the campaign.
