New Route with a twist from Galway City to Inis Mór this summer

Exciting new ferry route with a twist or should we say detour to be launched by Aran Island Ferries this summer. The route setting sail from the Docks in Galway city to Inis Mór will enable locals to explore their own county and perhaps even others in a different way.

Aran Island Ferries, co-founded by Paddy O'Brien and his father, Michael, in the 1970s remain an integral part of the tourism industry in the west of Ireland.

This Galway-Inis Mór service will be a significant addition to the existing routes with passengers able to listen to an audio guide during the 90 minute trip.

Last November the business welcomed Ireland’s largest domestic passenger ferry, ‘Saoirse na Farraige’, to their fleet. The official launch of ‘Saoirse na Farraige’ will also take place this summer and will be one of five vessels carrying passengers on this journey.

The surprise addition to the return journey will be revealed soon too. So people are urged to sign up to Aran Island Ferries newsletter in order to hear the news first.

Aran Island Ferries marketing manager, Aine McLoughlin, is excited about the fact that both Galwegians and tourists will be able to access Inis Mór easily.

"Overseas travel restrictions have encouraged people to embrace and explore local tourism experiences," Aine McLoughlin says.

"Our new route offers Galwegians and visitors to the city a fresh perspective and an exciting new way to celebrate and learn about two of the most iconic attractions in Ireland. ”

It is an exciting development for Aran Island Ferries with general manager Susan O'Brien thrilled with the route.

“The new route signifies our confidence in growing the business as well as our belief in the high-level of quality tourism experiences here in Galway and on the Aran Islands that serve the domestic market so well," Susan O'Brien states.

"The warm and memorable welcome Irish visitors receive is attributed to the sum of efforts from the local business community, which we hope will benefit from the investment.”

You can sign up to aranislandferries.com/newsletter and be the first to learn the final details of this exciting new route which is expected to launch at the beginning of June.
