Galway WFC defeated Shelbourne 2-1 in a friendly at Bealnamulla.

Two first half goals from Rachel Kearns and Lynsey McKey guided Billy Clery's outfit ahead.

Shels narrowed the deficit before the break, but Galway defended in resolute fashion after the restart.

Therese Kinnevey impressed in defence, while Sinéad Donovan and Kate Slevin also made good contributions for Galway.

Next on the pre-season agenda for Galway WFC is a home fixture against WNL holders Peamount United at Eamonn Deacy Park on Wednesday, kick off 12pm.
