PBP vow to continue campaign for public lands at Sandy Road, Dyke Road, Nuns Island, and Ceannt Station to be used for public housing

Adrian Curran has been selected as the People Before Profit local area representative for Galway by the party's members in the city and county.

Curran has been a socialist activist and member of People Before Profit for a number of years is deeply involved in workers' rights, anti-racist, housing, pro-choice and environmental activism in the city.

Originally from Westside, he has worked for almost a decade in a medical devices factory in the city before returning to full-time education as a mature student last year.

“I am honoured to have been chosen by our local branch members to represent our politics in Galway,” said Mr Curren. "Our immediate priorities include continuing to push the Government to adopt a Zero Covid strategy to get us out of this cycle of lockdowns."

He said PBP will continue to campaign for public lands such as those at Sandy Road, Dyke Road, Nuns Island, and Ceannt Station to be used for public housing and community amenities.

"People Before Profit oppose any attempts to hand over public land to private developers," he said. "We  will continue to highlight the scandal of billionaire property speculators hoarding empty houses around Galway during a housing crisis.”
