New mobile playbus launched in Connemara

TG4’s Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhghaill officially launched Connemara’s new mobile playbus, a Galway City and County Childcare Committee initiative in association with the HSE West, recently.

The Bus Spraoi Mór Dearg service enables children and parents to avail of a programme of early childhood education and care.

Two buses, based in Galway, cater for a range of communities and families in the city and county who do not have access to childcare services.

A novel attraction for excited pre-schoolers, the play bus services are participative, involving children and parents in planning and delivering the services. Parents are given the opportunity to meet, network or attend training on the bus while their children attend the childcare service.

Galway City and County Childcare Committee, which co-ordinates the development of childcare services in Galway, runs a drop-in research centre for providers, parents and students at Liosbán Retail Centre. Telephone (091 ) 752039 or log onto www.galwaychildcare.com for further information.
