Dance photography calendar raises €3,000 for COPE

Darach Glennon of Darachphotography and a group of dancers from various dance/gymnastic schools across Galway have worked on a 2021 calendar project to raise funds for COPE Galway to help with homelessness around the city.

The original project was to produce 12 dance photoshoots across 12 months, but with the onset of the current pandemic, adjustments were made to accommodate lockdowns.

Darach Glennon says the project could not have happened without the support of the dancers and their parents, all of whom were involved in selling the calendars, Each month the calendar features one dancer with a few pictures from the photoshoot and a mini interview on what dancing means, and how Galway should tackle the homeless situation.

The calendar was designed by Darach's wife Janice Mulvany Glennon and printed by Print More, Oranmore, Co Galway.

With two batches of the calendar sold out, they hope to print a third run before Christmas.

The dance schools involved were: In Step Stage School, Renmore Gymnastics Club, Dance Concepts Moylough, Corrib Dance Academy, Lord of the Dance (international! ), Genevieve Ryan Dance Academy, Elwood School of Dancing, Regina Rogers School of Ballet, Youth Ballet West & NUIG Dansoc.
