Oughterard Show goes to the dogs

Oughterard Show Society has again teamed up with Ardrahan Show Society for a big night at the dogs fundraiser to be held at the Galway Greyhound Stadium on Friday June 26 from 7pm.

The two groups need to sell 720 tickets with various combinations of the six trap numbers. If the number sequence on the ticket matches the result of the feature race on the night, the holder scoops the first prize of €1,500. There are also five opportunities to win €100 by way of a draw of counterfoils entered in a lucky dip.

Tickets for the event costing €20 which includes admission as well as the race card for the night, are available from Maria O’Neill, Oughterard Show Society secretary, phone (086 ) 1517289, or from committee members.

The 47th Oughterard Show takes place this year on Saturday August 29 and Sunday August 30. It costs more than €78,000 to run the show, all of which must be collected by way of sponsorship, entry fees, fundraising, and donations. The show committee understand that it will be difficult for the show’s many sponsors to support it to the same level as in previous years, and is asking everyone to support this fundraiser to ensure the show continues. All tickets must be sold well in advance of June 26 to ensure that there is a ticket to match the winning combination of the feature race.

Enquiries regarding the fundraiser or this year’s show should be directed to the secretary, Oughterard Show Society, Camp Street, Oughterard, phone (096 ) 1517289, e-mail [email protected]
