Competitive sea angling resumes after long break

Competitive sea angling resumed after a long break when the Galway Bay Sea Angling Club hosted the Connaught Open Shore Championship on Enniscrone Beach.

Anglers from various parts of the province and further afield travelled to the South Sligo venue. At the end of the competition, it was a visiting angler, David O’Sullivan (Tralee SAC ) who took the Gold Medal with a total of nine fish.

In second place was Currane SAC member, Fiacra McKenna and taking third place was Janis Liseckis from the Galway Bay SAC. In the Junior section, Ryan Chambers (Currane SAC ) took the honours with five fish and in second place was Billy Gilvarry (Killala SAC ).

The Connaught Provincial Council IFSA would like to thank Galway Bay SAC and in particular, Brian Reidy, for a very well-organised competition in keeping with the current Covid 19 regulations.

Anyone interested in sea angling (shore or boat ), please contact the Connaught IFSA PRO, Michael Varley (087 2359755 ) for details of the nearest club to you.

All welcome. Keep angling and keep safe.
