MARIA SHIEL, the acclaimed West of Ireland singer-songwriter, will launch her debut album, Fire In The Sea!, with a show at the Galway Summer Garden this Saturday, September 12.

Maria describes her style of music as "trans-atlantic sea-folk", and for her gig will be accompanied by Sam Wright (bass ), Richie Dietrich (drums ), and Ben Turner (guitar ).

Maria has played shows across Ireland, continental Europe and the USA, including CBGB’s in New York and The Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. She has also shared the stage with Damien Rice and Glen Hansard.

Fire In The Sea! was inspired by the Atlantic Ocean and combines influences from both Ireland and America, with old time country, indigenous roots music, and vocal harmony styles based on those from the 1950s and 1960s.

The album has already met with critical acclaim. Tony Clayton Lee said in The Irish Times, "With Fire In The Sea!, Maria Shiel delivers the kind of Celtic-infused Americana that gives the genre a good name. What we have here is quality songwriting, expert musicianship, and melodies you'll be humming from one side of the Atlantic to the other."

The show takes place at 6pm. Support is from Anna Mullarkey. Maria will be selling the album as a limited edition gatefold CD-ART Package with digital download. It will not be available on streaming platforms until Christmas. See www.mariashiel.com
