Galway Fringe Festival 2020 - a physical and virtual festival

Fringe to host art exhibitions in August, September to see a virtual festival of music, theatre, and literature

THE GALWAY Fringe Festival will come in two forms this year - a physical form featuring art exhibitions throughout this month, and a virtual form with online shows in September.

Many of the events for the physical fringe are on this weekend, while others run throughout August. The Art Of Galway exhibition, featuring work by John Soden and Bernard Dooley as well as photography by Patrick Finn, is at the Galway City Gallery, 15 New Dock Street, today [Thursday August 13] and tomorrow [Friday August 14]. Gallery opening hours are 12 noon to 4pm.

Kaleidoscope an exhibition by artist Aisling Legros features a series of digital images depicting famous Salthill landmarks, can be seen in O'Connor's Bakery, Salthill, until August 30.

Life In Still Life is an annual cross border partnership between the Office of Public Works in the Republic, and the Department of Finance Northern Ireland. It runs in Portumna Castle until the end of August, and features work by 51 artists, including Marcel Vidal, Brian Ballard, and Nathalie Du Pasquier.

The Galway Potters Market returns to the Spanish Arch on Saturday August 15 and Sunday 16, from 10am to 6pm. It will feature some 30 studio potters and ceramic artists from all over Ireland.

Get involved in the virtual Galway Fringe Festival

The GFF is calling on artists to take part in the virtual fringe which runs from September 21 to 26. Artists can submit proposals in theatre, comedy, dance, music, visual arts, opera, literature, and outdoor events. Live and pre-recorded events are welcome.
