New adventure centre Wildlands opens in Moycullen tomorrow

Galway has a new offering in the leisure industry, with Wildlands, an adventure centre overlooking Ballyquirke Lake in Moycullen.

This new centre, which also offers accommodation, will open tomorrow (August 7 ).

Wildlands says it will be one of Ireland’s leading adventure offerings, boasting exciting activities for customers of all ages.

The show piece outdoor activity is the zip 'n' trek course and tower, which the owners say was constructed last year by Swiss-based world leaders in the design of high line zip courses, Altus.

"The finished product is up there with the best zip lining and aerial trekking courses in Ireland, standing 14 metres high with 10 zip lines and four circuits of varying levels of difficultly.

"A stand alone zip ‘n’ trek junior course for the mini Tarzan and Janes is sure to be a hit, along with the eye-catching fun walls indoor climbing arena, which, built by the renowned manufacturer Walltopia, is a first of its kind in the west."

The adventure centre first broke ground in spring 2018, The hub's development, a 2500 square metre building, and luxurious cabins were constructed by local suppliers and tradesmen.

This local Moycullen family run business will be offering food through a custom fitted Volkswagen, the Wildlands Wagon, offering locally sourced sandwiches and treats supplied by the award-winning Corrib House Tea Rooms. The Olive Tree Kitchen, a 150-seater restaurant which will be open to the public, unique cabins accommodation, and more exciting activities, such as Baile Beag, tag archery and challenge rooms are due to follow soon.

Safety, sustainability and fun

In addition to the zip ‘n’ trek, the centre boasts fun walls, disc golf, bushcraft, archery, fairy trails, wildlands walks, adventure play, a sports hall, and yoga and wellness.

The owners say safety, sustainability and fun underpin everything at Wildlands.

"We have a wealth of experience in delivering first-class adventure, food and hospitality offerings. Unique and special it will certainly be, and not just for kids. With planning permission just recently granted by An Bord Pleanala for additional cabins, and a second phase at design stage for additional activities, the sky really is the limit at Wildlands."

Advance bookings online are required at present, and customers can book through www.wildlands.ie.

Full details of Covid-19 measures and requirements can be found on that site to ensure customers can best prepare for their visit.
