Galway's Community Circus is up and running

Galway Community Circus, one of Galway’s most vibrant arts organisations, is taking bookings for its summer camp programme in August.

This is a great opportunity to get out after the lockdown and practice circus skills in a safe environment that is fun and supportive,

A programme of outdoor summer camps take place in the field adjacent to St Joseph’s Community Centre, Shantalla, starting August 3.

There will be balance camps, bootcamps and fun camps, in addition to several age group options available for young people, and specific adult courses, such as the five day adult bootcamp, guaranteed to provide a good workout while learning new skills in the process. There are also two weekend programmes for families, a great experience for parents and toddlers or young ones to practice circus together.

Galway Community Circus says circus offers a unique pathway to personal confidence, skill building and fun.

"It is a body positive space that focuses on personal journey. Circus is also a mindful practice and increases body awareness, movement and understanding, in an environment that is open and welcoming. No level of fitness is required to participate, just bring your curiousity and a willingness to try, we will do the rest."

Galway Community Circus is one of Ireland’s leading youth arts organisations, training 600 young people and their families every week at St Joseph’s Community Centre, Shantalla. The organisation closed on March 12 for lockdown, and the summer camps are the first public engagement since for the local charity.

Camps can be booked online: www.galwaycommunitycircus.com/085 111 7224.
