Kyne welcomes funding for Galway’s animal welfare organisations

Minister Seán Kyne has welcomed the allocation of €87,000 to animal welfare organisations in Galway.The funding is part of a €2,906,000 allocation by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed to 106 animal welfare organisations across the country.

“The organisations benefiting include Galway SPCA which has received €40,000, MADRA and Pro Animale Ireland CLG both received €12,000 each, along with funding allocations for Fellenberg Foundation Ireland Ltd, Forgotten Horses Ireland, Galway & Claddagh Swan Rescue, Galway Cat Rescue and Renvyle Cat and Dog Rescue,” he said.

“This funding will be a great boost for these community-focused animal welfare organisations and will help them with their work safe-guarding and promoting the welfare of animals.

“I have had fantastic personal experience with animal welfare organisations here in Galway, particularly with Madra. This funding is well deserved and I would like to take the chance to recognise their contribution of the excellent volunteers that do so much for our community and the protection of surrendered, abandoned and at-risk animals,” he said.

The Galway funding is as follows:

Forgotten Horses Ireland, Kinvara, Co. Galway, €7,500;

Galway & Claddagh Swan Rescue, Lough Rusheen, Barna, Co Galway, €5,500;

Galway Cat Rescue, Seacrest, Knocknacarra, Galway,€5,000;

Galway SPCA, Heathlawn, Killimor, Ballinasloe, Co Galway, €40,000;

MADRA, Madra HQ, Furbo, Co Galway, €12,000;

Pro Animale Ireland CLG, Avalon, Flesk, Woodford, Co Galway, €12,000;

Renvyle Cat and Dog Rescue, c/o Tully Cross, Renvyle, Co Galway, €1,000.
