Mick Flannery - two nights in the Róisín Dubh

Cork singer makes annual Christmas pilgrimage to Galway

MICK FLANNERY, rightly regarded as one of Ireland's finest songwriters, makes his annual Christmas pilgrimage to the Róisín Dubh, playing two nights at the Dominick Street venue.

The Corkonian plays on Sunday December 28 and Monday 29. This year saw the release of Mick's sixth album, Mick Flannery, which went to No 1 in the Irish charts in the summer. The Irish Mirror declared it "one of the best albums of 2019”, while Hot Press called it the "most personal album to date from Cork's finest”.

The album includes the singles 'Come Find Me' and 'Star To Star'. The latter single boasted a striking, cinematic, video, directed by Emily Dynes. "Creating the visuals to match the epic emotions and beauty of Mick Flannery's gorgeous track was a daunting, but incredibly rewarding, task," she said. "It was a joy to undertake a real-life road trip through rural Australia to bring this music video to life."

For his part, Mick said: "This is the song that put my latest album in motion. It references highs of fame and success and not wanting to let go, the video mirrors these themes in another aspect of life. Thank you to all involved."

Doors are at 8pm for both nights. Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and the Róisín Dubh.
