The Connacht Property Auction finished its year of public auction events on a high note, selling more than 85 per cent of the lots offered at its final public auction of the year, which took place last Thursday, November 21.

This was the company’s fifth and final auction event of 2019, with properties from across the province offered for sale and the auction team reported strong interest and viewing levels in the lead up to the event. A large crowd was in attendance, all in the hope of securing their property of interest before Christmas. Last Thursday auction result, added to the result of the four previous public auctions during the year leaves the company with an impressive 92 per cent sold rate over the course of the year.

Patrick Folan, company director, said: “The success of our auctions is down to the large marketing campaigns we undertake in Ireland and abroad, while also working in close partnership with our local partner auctioneers.” While this may have been the company’s final public auction event of the year, Mr Folan was keen to point out that the auction team will be selling properties on its website www.connachtpropertyauction.ie right up to Christmas with an online auction event taking place on December 17. The Connacht Property Auction is also now taking entries for its first online and public auctions of 2020, which are taking place on January 30 and February 20 respectively. “We would like to thank all our client and customers for their business in 2019 and we wish everyone a happy Christmas and New Year," Mr Folan added.

Back to November 21, where in partnership with Matt O’Sullivan auctioneers the company successfully sold a three bed traditional style cottage in Moyard, Co Galway. The property also offered more than five acres of good quality land and the auction team noted strong interest before it was sold at auction for €150,000.

One of the more popular lots of the event was a large seven bed dormer in Rathlee, Co Sligo, which was sold in partnership with Gerry Rowland auctioneers, Ballina. The property offered stunning views over the Atlantic and received good local interest before the auction. Opening at €160,000, bids came in quick succession and after more than 20 bids the property sold for €190,000.

In Roscommon, a beautiful four bed detached family home was offered for sale in Tarmonbarry, in partnership with Oates auctioneers. This stunning property overlooks the River Shannon and received a high level of enquiries in the weeks leading up to the auction. The vendor accepted a bid prior to the live auction and the property was successfully sold for €250,000.

Another popular lot was a well maintained three bed end of terrace property, located within walking distance of Ballinrobe town. No 32 Churchview was offered for sale in partnership with Property Partners Emma Gill and received strong interest in the lead up to the auction event. There were a number of bidders hoping to secure this well-located property, both in attendance at the auction and on the phone as pre-registered bidders. Offered at bids over €55,000, numerous parties raised their bidding paddles before the hammer fell at €66,000.

The final lot of the live auction event was No 14 Lakeview, Loughlynn, Co Roscommon, which was offered for sale in partnership with John Higgins auctioneers, Ballyhaunis. This four bed semidetached property, while in need of refurbishment, is ideally located beside a beautiful woodland and lake offering great potential. Again, a number of people attended the auction in the hopes of securing this property. Bidding opened at €35,000 and after some quick fire bidding the property was successfully sold for €48,500.
