David Keenan to play Róisín Dubh

Following release of 'Altar Wine' single and video, singer-songwriter comes to Galway

"ART HEALS, that's why I pursue it. It gives joys, insights, and reliefs from the many madnesses that come and go.” So said Irish singer-songwriter David Keenan, who plays the Róisín Dubh in December.

The Dundalk singer-songwriter plays the Dominick Street venue on Friday December 13 at 8pm. Having won notice in recent years for his self released EPs, he signed with the Rubyworks label in September and earned critical praise for the single ‘Tin Pan Alley’. October saw the release of the 'Altar Wine' single, and a series of dates across Europe supporting Hozier.

Speaking about 'Altar Wine' and its video, Keenan said, "As a young man I felt the many stings of sensitivity when greeted with a conditioned societal sense of toxic masculinity which dogged, and still dogs, rural Ireland and the rest of the world. Through the medium of this video I felt ready to embrace the trauma within and without."

On Friday January 10 2020, Keenan will release his debut album, A Beginner’s Guide To Bravery. "The songs are the self, the soil of the soul," the artist explains, "and the decision to allow them more time to breathe as an album came first with the decision to collaborate with Rubyworks coming shortly after.”

Tickets are available from www.roisindubh.net; OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; and the Róisín Dubh.
