Joe Rooney headlines the Comedy KARLnival

You've seen him on Father Ted and Killinaskully, now see him on the stage of the Róisín Dubh

A STALWART of the Irish stand-up comedy scene, Joe Rooney is best known for his roles as Father Damo in Father Ted and Timmy in the RTÉ sitcom Killinaskully, and he is about to headline the Comedy KARLnival.

Joe, described as “occasionally laconic, at times infectiously manic, and always riveting” by Hot Press, plays the KARLnival at the Róisín Dubh on Tuesday December 3. Joe's comedy mixes stand-up and musical comedy. He recorded ‘The Rockier Road To Poland’ with Shane MacGowan, and performed a five week run in the Gaiety in John B Keane’s The Chastitute.

Also on the bill are Robbie Bonham, a stand-up comic, writer, illustrator, and cartoonist, whose comedy tackles relationships, addiction, and the baffling dilemmas of trying to deal with reality; and Niall Horisk, former head of NUI Galway's award-winning Comedy Society. He also reached the finals of Show Me The Funny and has shared the stage with Phill Jupitus, Katherine Lynch, and Tommy Tiernan.

Doors are at 8pm. The MC is Karl Spain. Tickets are €6 in advance from Róisín Dubh; www.roisindubh.net; and OMG@Zhivago, Shop Street; or €8 at the door.
