Horslips to play Town Hall

Johnny Fean, Barry Devlin, Jim Lockhart, on stage in Galway

HORSLIPS, A phenomenon of Irish rock in the 1970s, who brilliantly fused Irish trad with hard rock, glam, and prog, play the Town Hall Theatre this weekend.

Original Horslips members, Johnny Fean, Barry Devlin, and Jim Lockhart, along with Ray Fean on drums, play on Sunday November 3 at 8pm.

The band made a series of inspired, ground-breaking, albums throughout the seventies, including 1972 debut, Happy To Meet, Sorry To Part; 1973's magnificent The Tain, loosely based on the great Irish epic; and the trilogy - The Book of Invasions, Aliens, and The Man Who Built America, in which they explored Irish history and emigration to the New World.

In 1990, their song ‘Dearg Doom’ was the basis of the Republic of Ireland's World Cup song. In 2009 the band reformed and have played live shows on a semi-regular basis since.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
