ESRI’s John Fitzgerald to speak at GMIT

Professor John Fitzgerald, adjunct professor in economics at Trinity College Dublin and former research professor at the Economic and Social Research Institute, will deliver his annual lecture on 'The Irish economy and policy challenges' to GMIT business students in GMIT’s Galway campus on Tuesday October 15 at 12 noon. The lecture will take place in Room 99, and members of the public are welcome to attend.

Professor Fitzgerald is currently a member of the Commission of the Central Bank of Ireland and of the Independent Expert Panel established in 2014 by the Department of Communications, Energy, and Natural Resources. He has been a research affiliate at the ESRI since November 2014 and prior to that was a research professor at the ESRI and programme co-ordinator of the Macroeconomics Research Area.

GMIT economics lecturer Marie Finnegan, GMIT School of Business, said: “Professor Fitzgerald is excellent at communicating economic concepts in a very accessible way. He will be talking about the performance of the Irish economy and the associated policy challenges at this uncertain time.”
