Hanley welcomes outdoor gym equipment for Renmore and Doughiska

Councillor calls on City Hall to 'work much harder' to improve communal shared spaces in the city

New outdoor gym equipment is to be installed along Melody Field Park in Renmore, while the main park in Doughiska will also getting gym equipment and a new formal entrance with access for pedestrians and cyclists.

The works are due to start on Monday September 23 and have been welcomed by Social Democrats Galway City East councillor Owen Hanley. "These are much needed investments in the amenities in our local communities," he said. "These are especially important on the east side of the city which has too often gone overlooked in this regard."

Cllr Hanley said councillors and the local authority "need to work much harder" to improve communal shared spaces in the city and "create community bonds", but that the new equipment in the parks was "a step in the right direction".
