Train for employment with Galway Rural Development

Galway Rural Development is offering courses this autumn which will give participants the skills to be job ready. There are courses in SafePass, manual handling, HACCP, First Aid Responder, and hairdressing. Many of the labour market courses we offer are delivered in partnership with Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board.

Having these qualifications will be a great help when looking for work and employers often require appplicants to have done these courses in order to be eligible for work. SafePass, for instance, which is an accredited course, is required in the construction industry, and HACCP is needed for catering. Training is free if you are unemployed, on low income, or in receipt of other welfare supports, and places will be filled on a first come, first served, basis.

CV and interview skills workshops, which GRD runs in various locations, give people advice and information on how to make the best of themselves when applying for employment.

The Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP ), which funds the courses, covers the whole county of Galway so GRD has courses in several different locations in Connemara, the islands, and east Galway. Visit www.grd.ie which also links to the Facebook page — GRD advertises new courses all the time.

Contact GRD at 091 844335 and you will be passed on to the GRD office nearest to your location.
