New IT support specialist course at the GRETB Training Centre

This September, the GRETB Training Centre launches its new traineeship – IT support specialist for those wishing to enter the IT support field.

The traineeship runs for 43 weeks, which includes 16 weeks' work experience, and offers the opportunity for learners to acquire certifications from CompTIA and Microsoft (subject to passing the relevant exams ). This course is free, full-time, and a great opportunity for someone who has an aptitude and interest in IT.

The certifications on offer — CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Technology Associate in Operating Systems Fundamentals, and Microsoft Technology Associate in Server Administration Fundamentals — are globally recognised and provide a key knowledge base for anyone wanting to begin a career in IT support.

In addition the learners will acquire a number of non-technical communication skills.

The traineeship begins on Monday September 23 and will run in the GRETB Training Centre, Mervue, Galway. Potential learners will be required to sit an interview and aptitude test prior to being offered a place on the traineeship.

Learners will secure their own work experience with organisations within the Galway/Roscommon area for 16 weeks towards the end of the traineeship and may be expected to sit interviews with relevant organisations.
