THE RENT is unpaid. The last of the drink has been consumed. Three folk musicians are on their uppers, and they need to turn around their fortunes ahead of the mackerel season.

This is The Mackerel Eaters, featuring Aindrias Stack, Jonathan Gunning, and Daniel Guinnane. A feast of wild tales, ridiculous gags, and a plethora of jigs and reels, it will be performed in the Electric Garden and Theatre, Abbeygate Street, from Wednesday July 17 to Saturday 20, at 8pm.

The play was previously staged at the 2017 Galway Theatre Festival, and was described by Moonfish Theatre Company's Mairead Ní Chronín as "a mad Irish comical romp - full of music and laughs, guaranteed to leave you rolling in the aisles".

Tickets are €10 at the door.
