Galway hosts its first HeartFest during the International Food & Craft Festival

Organisers claim that Heartfulness meditation is “Food for the Soul”

Galway will host its first HeartFest in July this year as part of the Galway International Food & Craft Festival. The food festival takes place on 5,6, & 7th July in Salthill Park Galway in a large marquee tent and will feature celebrity chefs such as Nevin Maguire, Rachel Allen and Kevin Dundon.

The HeartFest will take place in a colourful marquee tent on a site just next to the food and craft fair, close to Salthill Promenade and is an innovative approach to introducing people to the many benefits of a heart-based meditation. It combines many of the familiar and enjoyable elements of a festival – food, craft stalls and celebrity speakers- with practical information about the Heartfulness meditation system and how to engage with this unique spiritual practice.

The HeartFest organisers have announced that two of Irelands most loved personalities Tommy Tiernan and Dr Ivor Brown will speak as part of the event on Sunday the 7th July at 7pm. Dr Ivor Browne, who brought Heartfulness to Ireland, will be in conversation with Tommy Tiernan about why he meditates the Heartfulness way.

Local organiser Norah Anne O'Connell says: “ We are very happy to be able to bring HeartFest to Galway for the first time and for locals and tourists alike to hear about this simple but effective meditation. We want to create a welcoming, relaxing and creative space where people can learn something about the Heartfulness meditation system, browse through some books, listen to inspirational speakers and enjoy some treats at our marquee ”

Paul Denvir, another Heartfest organiser who has been practising Heartfulness for the past 25 years says “Heart-based meditation is food for the soul. Meditation has been practised for thousands of years and its benefits are well documented. These include a reduction in stress as well as improvements in health, concentration and focus. Practising Heartfulness helps us experience the wisdom of our heart and, in doing so, we learn to let go of fear and to trust ourselves and our intuition. Heartfulness softens the heart and helps us to be more compassionate towards ourselves and others. Those who practice Heartfulness regularly become calmer, clearer, more effective and balanced”.

The Heartfulness meditation system is a non-profit organisation with centres throughout the world, and many local centres in Ireland. The practice is open to all those over 18 years of age and there is no cost attached.
