Secure your place at the information and registration evening in GCC

School leavers and mature students who are considering Galway Community College as their further education destination in September 2019 have the opportunity to gather information on all courses, speak with staff, and register for their preferred course on Wednesday May 22 from 5pm to 7pm in the college, located at Moneenageisha Junction.

GCC offers a broad range of Level 5 and 6 courses with tutors developing new courses and new modules in line with industry trends in employment. The Level 6 courses give direct access to second year courses in GMIT following GCC's formal partnership recently. GCC has developed strong links to local businesses with work experience and Erasmus opportunities offered in six specialist departments — business and secretarial; design and technology; film, music and theatre; social care; sport and equine; and science and engineering.

New courses for September 2019 include Level 5 retail pharmacy assistant, Level 5 computer systems and networks and introduction to software development, and Level 5 apprentice preparatory course in building trades. At Level 6 there are two new courses in mobile journalism and film production, and an ITEC diploma in Pilates teaching and exercise specialist.

GCC has a friendly inclusive environment, and a strong reputation for excellent tutoring with great progression opportunities. It offers an ideal location close to the city centre with free parking, career guidance, a café, playing pitches, and a fully equipped gym among the many modern facilities available.

On completion of a PLC course a maximum of 390 points can be achieved for progression to third level education. Successful completion and certification of a QQI Level 5 course allows you to apply through the CAO system for any course up to 390 points. Close ties with industry in Galway city and county and a focus on third level education are key factors in what has made the PLC college at GCC a centre of excellence.
