Fantasy Football round 37 preview

In association with St. Anthony's & Claddagh Credit Union

It was another special week of European football as Ajax continued their wonderful form in the competition with 1-0 victory over Spurs in London and Lionel Messi staked another claim as the greatest player to grace a football pitch with another brilliant brace against Liverpool on Wednesday night at the Camp Nou.

But there is no rest for the wicked as they say and it is back to domestic action this weekend as we head into the penultimate round of the Advertiser Tribal League in association with St Anthony's and Claddagh Credit Union. Which players will make the cut?

Raúl Jiménez (Wolves ) v Fulham

The Mexican had arguably experienced his worst form of the season in the last couple of weeks, failing to score in five consecutive matches before finding the back of the net against Watford at Vicarage Road last Saturday. This weekend, Nuno Espírito Santo's men welcome relegated but in form Fulham to the Black Country. The Cottagers have won their last three games but still sit second bottom of the league, knowing they will be playing in the Championship next season. Despite the west Londoners fine form, I think Wolves will be looking to put on a show for their support in the final home match of the season at Molineux. I'm going with a home win and Jiménez to be on the scoresheet.

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth ) v Tottenham Hotspur

The English striker was one of the hottest properties at the start of the season as he was finding the back of the net for fun. A troublesome knee injury picked up against West Ham in January saw Wilson miss six league matches disrupting his rhythm and fitness. However, with his injury woes behind him, Wilson has managed three goals, three assists in his last three outings, helping the Cherries to secure another season in the top flight. At lunchtime on Saturday, Bournemouth welcome Champions League-chasing Spurs to the Vitality Stadium. With four defeats in their last five matches in all competitions, the north London outfit have been fortunate that their competition for fourth spot has been as equally bad. I expect a game with goals and Wilson to be among them. Get him in your team.

Shane Long (Southampton ) v West Ham

You can turn on and turn off your mobile device, rub your eyes, and sleep on it but it will not change a thing; I am advising Fantasy managers to put Shane Long in their squad for this weekend. The striker may have had barren spells of 251 and 279 days without a goal but something has happened in the universe and the Waterford man has scored four goals and provided an assist in his last five games. On Saturday, Southampton travel to West Ham after the Saints completed the great escape and secured Premier League survival. The Hammers are in good form after beating Spurs last weekend. I believe West Ham will win this clash but Long will continue his goal scoring exploits.
