Well-known antique auctioneer Matthews of Oldcastle will conduct a clearance of the contents of Our Lady Queen of Peace Convent and Nursing Home in Dublin next Wednesday from 11.30am. Recently sold, the property is due for major refurbishment by Orwell Private, a Dublin-based healthcare company.
More than 1,000 lots are to be cleared over the two days, among them antiques, garden statuary, and medical items. The auction will also include the contents of a fine nearby residence on Temple Road, also recently sold. The contents of this property will be removed to the convent for sale.
With estimates ranging from €20 to €1,500, and many to be sold without reserve, "it's a tremendous opportunity for those collecting on a budget, landlords and nursing home owners, definitely a sale worth attending," says the auctioneer Damien Matthews.
The auction will be held in the convent, just off Garville Avenue, Rathgar, Dublin 6, and will be well signposted on the viewing days. Public viewing begins this weekend from Saturday at 11am. The catalogue can also be viewed online on the auctioneer's website www.matthewsauctionrooms.com and the auctioneer can be contacted at 049 8550055, email [email protected].
