Volunteer recruitment fair to take place this Sunday

'Volunteering can be a great way to learn new skills and make new friends, while also making a contribution,' says Mayor

Members of the public interested in volunteering are being invited to the Galway City Volunteer Recruitment Fair in the Galway Bay Hotel this Sunday [January 27] between 2pm and 5pm.

The event, organised by Volunteer Galway, and supported by the Galway City Council, Galway Bay FM, and the Galway Bay Hotel, will host more than 50 charities and community organisations from across the city, and they will be be available to speak with attendees about the work that they do and volunteer roles they are trying to fill.

Donncha Foley, development manager of Volunteer Galway, said the fair was an opportunity for people to see how they can get involved in their communities. "There will be a wide variety of volunteer roles available to suit people’s own busy schedules. "We would encourage people to come along and speak to the charities, find out about the great work that they are doing and how you can get involved and be part of it."

The Mayor of Galway, Labour city councillor, Niall McNelis, said: "We have fantastic charities and community organisations in Galway city and volunteering can be a great way to learn new skills and make new friends, while also making a contribution to the valuable work that these organisations do throughout the year."
