THE ESKIES, "the internet generation's answer to the Dubliners," according to Goldenplec, who play what Whisperin' and Hollerin' called "rip-roaring party tunes for cowboys, sailors, chain gangers, and rag timers", are coming to Galway.
The Eskies bring their folk, noir, gypsy jazz, and sea shanty mix to the Róisín Dubh on Thursday February 7 at 9pm. The band's second album, And Don’t Spare The Horses, released on Absolute Record in 2017, cemented their position of one of the best emerging artists from Ireland. The Last Mixed Tape said it "exudes a vim and vigour that bursts from out of the speakers...an incredibly entertaining experience".
The quintet have played the main stages at the Glastonbury and Cambridge festivals. They have also played Bestival and Eurosonic, and enjoyed shows across Ireland, Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Australia. As FolkWords said: "Imagine music that grabs you by the arm and threatens to drag you onto the dance floor – visualise all that and you’ll be close, only close though.”
