A CELEBRATION of the life and work of the much respected Galway actor Siobhán McKenna, will take place in An Taibhdhearc next week as part of the national Irish language theatre's [email protected] events.

Cartlann, Ceol, Cuimhní... takes place in the theatre on Middle Street, on Wednesday November 7, and will see Lelia Doolan present the life and legacy of her friend Siobhán McKenna (1923 – 1986 ). There will also be Rita Connolly, who recently performed in Croke Park during the papal visit, singing the songs of Shaun Davey, accompanied by a small band.

The evening will also début ‘An Spéirbhean Ríonda’ a piece specially composed for this occasion and in memory of Siobhán McKenna, performed by the composer Johnny Óg Connolly. The show will be presented by Lillis Ó Laoire, and introduced by Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh, uachtarán of NUI Galway.
