Cutting edge acts at the Galway Jazz Festival

Ashley Henry, Oliver's Cinema, Steve Davis, Kavus Torabi, and World Service Project

IN JANUARY 2017, Ashley Henry, aged 25, became the youngest guest resident musical director of both Ronnie Scott's and the Jazz Cafe. Galway will see why next month and the Galway Jazz Festival.

Ashley and his quartet will bring their mix of funk and jazz grooves to the city, and they are among a series of artists on the festival line-up who are creating a worldwide buzz in the improvised music scene. Also playing the CJF is Oliver's Cinema, with their poetic, soulful, sound. Led by trumpeter, Eric Vloiemans, they will be joined by Tuur Florizoone (accordion ) and Jorg Brinkmann (cello ). The line-up further features former snooker champion Steve Davis, playing a DJ set; multi-instrumentalist Kavus Torabi; and punk-jazz band World Service Project.
