Discover Galway’s literary heritage at Lady Gregory - Yeats Autumn Gathering

Discover more about our rich literary heritage at the Lady Gregory - Yeats Autumn Gathering, taking place at Coole Park, Kiltartan Cross, and Thoor Ballylee from September 28 to 30.

The three-day gathering will feature a variety of talks, theatre, archival film, a book launch, and plenty of chat and fun.

Highlights of this year’s event include the launch of Lady Gregory’s Early Irish Writings 1883-1893, by James Pethica.

There will be a number of talks including Robert Gregory, WWI pilot and heir to Coole; #Waking the Feminists and staging the Easter/estrogen rising - controversy at the Abbey Theatre; and Troublesome Women - from Lady Gregory to Marina Carr’s plays.

The weekend will also feature a memorial to Irish airmen at Kiltartan Cross with poetry by Robyn Rowland; an archival film on Abbey writers and actors; and the play The Loves of Lady Gregory, staged in Yeats’ castle home of Thoor Ballylee; along with entertainment and candlelit dinner in the woodland of Coole Park.
