Claire Guinan's portraits of Irish musicians

The Coronas, Paul Brady, Lisa Hannigan, Imelda May...all sat for Irish artist

THE CORONAS, PAUL BRADY, The Dubliners' John Sheahan, and Mick Flannery, are among the musicians portrayed in a new exhibition by the Irish artist Claire Guinan, which opens in Galway next week.

Heart and Soul: Portraits of Irish Musicians also features portraits of Gavin James, Aslan's Christy Dignam, Mundy, Lisa Hannigan, Cathy Davey, Imelda May, and Damien Dempsey. Guinan met all of the sitters so she could capture them in a "relaxed and natural environment".

“Music is so powerful” Guinan explains, “It can evoke memories, enhance our emotions and influence our everyday lives. These musicians take their talent and reach deep into their heart and soul to create wonderful music that enriches our lives. Each and every one of these artists has added to the depth and richness of both Irish music and Irish culture.”

Heart and Soul: Portraits of Irish Musicians runs in the Galway Designers Studio House, The Cornstore, Augustine Street, until Sunday 29. See Facebook, @claireguinanart on Twitter, or claire_guinan on Instagram.
