Sharpie and O’Connor fundraiser for Galway Rape Crisis Centre

Two singer-songwriters, one very good cause

STEVEN SHARPE and Katie O’Connor are frequent collaborators and the singer-songwriters will again join forces, as they play a gig to raise funds for the Galway Rape Crisis Centre.

The gig takes place on Thursday July 12 at 8pm, in the Black Gate Cultural Centre, St Francis Street. Steven is something of a phenomenon - singer-songwriter, storyteller, performer, challenger of gender norms, whose music explores all facets of modern gay life, and draws inspiration from Led Zeppelin, Kate Bush, Prince, and Nina Simone. He also perform with his band The Broke Straight Boys, as well as with 4 Mile Circus, and Led Zep tribute band No Stairway.

This year saw Katie O’Connor release her fourth album, Fuel For Dreaming, which enjoyed positive reviews. She has performed on stages throughout Ireland and Europe, and also busks.

The Galway Rape Crisis Centre provides professional, caring, and confidential counselling and support service for those affected by sexual abuse and sexual violence. Admission to the show is €10.
