Afternoon tea with Gráinne Seoige at Loughrea Hotel & Spa

The Rooftop Garden at the Loughrea Hotel and Spa will take centre stage on Tuesday, August 1, as a host of Galway’s most glamorous ladies will enjoy an afternoon with Gráinne Seoige.

Ms Seoige will host the launch of Loughrea Hotel and Spa’s new gin afternoon tea with a gin masterclass and a Best Dressed Lady competition between 12.30pm and 2.30pm, at an event destined to be one of the most esteemed social outings of the racing festival.

Top mixologist Eoin O’Neill from Dalcassian Wines & Spirits, distributors of Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin, has created a bespoke cocktail to complement the Loughrea Hotel’s afternoon tea selection which guests will sample on the day.

Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin is slow-distilled by hand with oriental botanicals and gunpowder tea at The Shed Distillery in County Leitrim. Launched a little more than a year ago, it has already made the national headlines, featuring in Ireland’s favourite gin and tonic two years in a row, and also being named in Ireland’s favourite cocktail as voted by the public.

Ms Seoige will judge the Best Dressed Lady on the day and will be providing tips for the guests about how to approach the competition at the Galway Races on Thursday. The winner will receive a unique piece of bespoke jewellery from Grainne’s line, Grace Diamonds, made specially for the occasion.

“I’m delighted to be back in Galway for this wonderful event,” Grainne said. “The Loughrea Hotel and Spa is the place to be on the Tuesday of The Galway Races and it promises to be a day of glamour and fashion for the ladies lucky enough to be there on the day.”

The Galway ladies soccer team will be giving guests a chance to win four premium level tickets to the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup qualifier match versus Serbia, while Galway Rose, Niamh Elwood, will be joined by stars of TV and radio and other special guests. Attendees can enjoy some sweet treats at afternoon tea along with entertainment from a live jazz band.

Located just 20 minutes from Galway City Centre, the four-star Loughrea Hotel & Spa is ideal for some pre- and post-racing hospitality.
