A survey conducted by multivitamin brand, Pharmaton, has found that a mother’s work is never done, with 40 per cent of mums in Ireland spending between two and four hours on housework each day.
The survey confirmed that while the average mum tries to make enough time for herself to get a break (61 per cent ), some 40 per cent still say they get sick or run down between three and four times a year.
When asked about the most challenging parts of being a mum, a third stated that the lack of sleep is the hardest part of motherhood. Keeping in touch with friends along with managing the household finances followed with 16 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.
The hardship all seems to be worth it though, with 62 per cent of those surveyed saying they feel appreciated by their children and 80 per cent saying their partner appreciates their work as a mum.
When it comes to the benefits of motherhood, 47 per cent said that the unconditional love from their children is the most rewarding thing about being a mum, and 70 per cent said they know they are appreciated from the cuddles they get from their kids.
Of those surveyed, 23 per cent of mums admitted that a good night’s sleep has become their biggest treat since joining motherhood, and not having time to wash their hair on a regular basis is something they wished they had been warned about.
